Why Tiny Elvis
Tiny Elvis is a desktop pet — a fresh take on "Tiny Elvis," a 1994 Windows 3.1 desktop toy by Pegasus Development, and a nod to the SNL sketch it was riffing on. The idea was too good to leave in 1994: a tiny Elvis pops up next to whatever you're working on and can't believe how huge it is.
He stays out of your way. Tiny Elvis only appears after you've been idle for a while, reads your actual frontmost window through the Accessibility API so the quips are about the window you're really looking at, and disappears the moment you touch the keyboard or mouse.
About the art
Screenshots and previews on this page currently use placeholder frames borrowed from the original 1994 program as a stand-in while animation timing is worked out. The shipping app will use entirely new, original pixel art and a synthesized voice — as an homage to the original, not a copy of it.
